When initially asked the question about what Macbeths dagger could represent, I immediately went to the conclusion of it being his ambition leading him on to do this act of regicide, possibly being a way of taking the blame away from himself as he's saying that he was tempted (lured) to do such a terrible thing from this dagger alone (convincing himself of this as he knows the loyalty Duncan holds him to).
